          Early Life and Influences

Carmine Appice, an American drummer of Italian descent, was born in Brooklyn, New York.

As the elder brother of fellow drummer Vinny Appice, he was heavily influenced by the legendary jazz greats Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa. Their innovative techniques and explosive performances left an indelible mark on his musical style.

          Rise to Fame

Appice rose to prominence in the late 1960s as part of the iconic psychedelic rock band Vanilla Fudge.

His thunderous drumming and signature double-bass technique redefined the role of the drummer in rock music. After Vanilla Fudge disbanded, he went on to form the hard rock band Cactus and later joined the supergroup Beck, Bogert & Appice.
